Based on current form, here are the top 10 best right backs in the world.
Florenzi might have not hit the heights expected of him since his move to PSG. However, the Italian can still lay claims to being one of the best right backs in Europe.
11) Benjamin Pavard
Benjamin Pavard has been one of the best right backs in the world since that fantastic world cup campaign in 2018. The former Stuggart man just unluckily misses out on our top 10.
10) Sergino Dest
It’s safe to say that Sergino Dest was solid in his first season at Barcelona.
The 20 year old was one of the most consistent players in Ronald Koeman’s squad in what was a largely disappointing season for the Catalans.
9) Kieran Trippier
This list will not be complete without Atletico Madrid right back Kieran Trippier.
Trippier who starred for England in the just concluded European tournament has been linked with a move to Manchester united this summer.
8) Dani Carvajal
Dani Carvajal lowly position on our list is due to his struggles with injuries in recent years. The Spaniard who missed out on Euro 2020 through injury still remains one of the best full backs in the world on his day.
7) Alexander Arnold
Liverpool defender Alexander Arnold has fallen well below standards in recent months. The 22 year old was once the undisputed best right back in the world, but a series of poor form and injuries means the Meyerside born fullback will have to contend with a place outside our top 5.
5) Aaron Wan Bissaka
It still baffles me as to why Aaron Wan Bissaka is still being snubbed by Gareth Southgate. The 23 year old is unquestionably the best right back in the world when it come to his primary defensive role. Wan Bissaka has also shown tremendous attacking improvements at Manchester united in recent months.
More to come from this man.
5) Reece James
James has propelled himself to first choice right back for club and country since he bursted on to the scene as an 18 year old.
The English man was a catalyst for Chelsea as they cruised to the Champions league trophy last season.
4) Juan Cuadrado
Juan Cuadrado looks to have put that failed spell at Chelsea well behind him. The Colombian international has reinvented himself as a rightback at the Allianz Staduim and has made himself an untouchable at Juventus.
Believe it or not, Juan Cuadrado is as important to Juventus as Cristiano Ronaldo.
3) Kylie Walker
Despite featuring heavily as part of a three – man defence for club and country, Kylie Walker still ranks as one of the best players around when played in his favorite right back position.
The Manchester city man is blessed with pace, strength, an eye for goal and doesn’t look like he’ll be slowing down anytime soon.
2) Joao Cancelo
Despite having had an indifferent end to the 2020/2021 season, Joao Cancelo had already done enough to warrant a place in the premier league team of the season.
The Portuguese defender has recovered well from a terrible first season at the Etihad stadium to become one of the most important players in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
1) Archaf Hakimi
There’s a reason why PSG shelled out a whooping €70 million plus for Inter Milan defender Archaf Hakimi.
The Morrocan was a main stay in Antonio Conte’s side as Inter Milan cruised to the serie A title last season. A well deserved no 1 spot for the former Real Madrid man.
